Marfa Sessions School Visits

November 2008

In November 2008, we were delighted to welcome two groups of students from the Marfa Studio of Arts to our fall visual arts exhibition, The Marfa Sessions. Teachers Michael Roch and Jen Lane led students around the show, explaining the different sound projects (students were especially captivated by Kaffe Matthews Sonic Bed_Marfa). Many thanks to Marfa Studio of the Arts, and teachers Michael Roch, Jen Lane, and Ellie Meyer-Madrid, for coordinating the visits.

Marfa Studio of Arts (MSA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization located in the small, West Texas town of Marfa, situated 60 miles from the U.S./Mexico border. MSA was initially formed by artist Malinda Beeman in 1999 as a unifier, using the language of art to bring disparate segments of the local population together. Today, MSA is recognized for providing high quality visual arts programming for local children and youth through its special focus program, Studio in the Elementary School (SITES.)

Many thanks to Marfa Studio of Arts, Sally Coleman, Jen Lane, Ellie Meyer-Madrid, and Michael Roch.
